"It was wonderful to be able to listen to them the day they were born, it was the best experience of my life. When I was young, I had problems with my thyroid, the treatment was not adequate and caused me cysts, which attached themselves to my tubes.
One of them was completely blocked and the other was functioning at 2%, and that's when the ordeal began: looking for doctors, going to fertility clinics, the costs... For us, as women who already want to start a family, it's desperate, stressful, sad, you reach a point where you break down, your body and your soul break down.
You start looking for options, you want to try to understand but your brain can't cope, and sometimes you think you won't be able to. I told my husband that if he wanted to have children and I couldn't give them to him, he should make his life with someone else, so that we wouldn't have problems, so that we wouldn't be exasperated by having a dream and not being able to fulfil it; but my husband was up to the task, he told me that we would look for a solution and that he wouldn't stop loving me because of what we were going through.
It was 8 months of injections and medication. It is difficult, but you have that desire, that love, that desire to become a mother... and that is why it worked. The doctors did their job, my husband did his job, my parents, my friends and also myself.
Everything came together to get to that moment, when you have them in your belly. When the doctor spoke to me and said: 'Congratulations, you're pregnant!' Everything we had fought for, everything we had dreamed of... At that moment it was fulfilled!
It was wonderful to be able to listen to them, to see their two eyes, their two hands, it was a turning point in my heart, to see them being born was the best experience of my life. To hear them tell me mum and to see how they are growing up... If I had known all that it entails and what I would go through, I would go through it again. I would go through it again and live it, because having my children here is the ultimate dream of my life, the most beautiful gift I can have in this world, and my task today is to see that they grow up healthy, that they are happy".
