Ectopic Pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancy occurs when pregnancy occurs outside the uterus, usually in the fallopian tubes. It is rare, but by its nature should be treated by a specialist.

Causes

Ectopic pregnancy is usually caused by factors that obstruct or delay the passage of the fertilized egg or embryo through the fallopian tubes, such as:

A previous ectopic pregnancy
Adhesions caused by previous pelvic surgery (appendectomy, colon surgery, etc.) or infectious processes (pelvic inflammatory disease)
Fallopian tube surgeries, such as tubal ligation reversal
Chlamydia or other recurrent cervical-vaginal infections
Hydrosalpinx
Endometriosis
Congenital defects of the fallopian tubes
Smoking
Use of intrauterine devices

Symptoms

Abnormal vaginal bleeding
Lower abdominal pain
Lower back pain
Feeling of nausea and fatigue
As it progresses, ectopic pregnancy can lead to the rupture of one of the fallopian tubes, with symptoms including:
Faint feeling
Sharp pain in the lower abdomen or even in the shoulders and neck
Intense pressure in the rectum
Dark vaginal bleeding
Anemia

Diagnosis

A blood test can measure the levels of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) and progesterone.
A transvaginal ultrasound or vaginal ultrasound, on the other hand, is also a recommended alternative.

Can I have a baby if I had an ectopic pregnancy?

Unfortunately, ectopic pregnancies cannot be carried to term because they make it impossible for the embryo to survive and can affect the mother's health, so it is necessary to remove the developing cells as soon as possible.

If the fallopian tubes are damaged or have to be removed, In Vitro fertilization (IVF) is the treatment of choice to have a baby.
Our Multicycle Programs are the best option to fulfill your dream with up to 4 In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) attempts to give you the maximum peace of mind and security that you will have your baby at home.
