Initial Program: The key to a customized assisted reproduction treatment

by Ingenes Institute 29/03/23

The Initial Program is the first firm step towards having your baby with a customized Assisted Reproduction treatment; a program with which you will obtain your fertility diagnosis through a complete evaluation of your reproductive health and a specific treatment plan, which includes medical advice, face-to-face consultation and medical studies.

Here's what it is and how you can get it.

What is the Ingenes Initial Program?

For many women who are having trouble having a baby, one of the biggest challenges is taking the first step: scheduling an appointment to see a fertility specialist. But knowing what to expect and how it will happen can make that process much easier.

The Initial Program is that first step, a comprehensive assessment of your reproductive health, which will tell you exactly why you haven't had your baby yet .

A team of specialist gynaecologists and reproductive biologists will guide you through this process, with the aim of providing you with a personalised Assisted Reproduction treatment plan that will give you the best chance of becoming a mother.

What does your Initial Program include?

Your Initial Program is much more than a consultation, it is a comprehensive assessment of your reproductive health, history and your previous attempts to have your baby.

This program includes all of the following:

  1. Care and consultation of Gynecological medical specialists and reproductive biologists.
  2. Clinical studies required.
  3. Full analysis and assessment of your reproductive health and previous attempts.
  4. Personalized Assisted Reproduction treatment plan.

All in all, a firm first step with everything you need to get you started on a reproductive treatment that will be really successful and give you your baby.

How does the Initial Program work to have a successful assisted reproduction treatment?

Your program is carried out in two stages as follows:

1. Online Medical Advice

First, you will have an online medical consultation. At this point you will meet the specialist doctor who will head your case and the team who will be available to you throughout your entire process and until you have your baby with you.

You will talk to your doctor and he or she will ask you some questions about your particular case, not only to learn about your reproductive health, but also about your motivations, your life story and the specific dream you have in wanting to become a mother.

Upon completion, your doctor will give you a fertility pre-diagnosis and an assisted reproduction treatment plan based on this.

What do you need for your consultancy?

  • Have 1 hour to dedicate exclusively to you, your sleep and your doctors.
  • Prepare ahead of time and write down any questions you have so far, so that you can make the most of your counselling.
  • Be in a comfortable place, free from noise and distractions.
  • Have a stable internet connection (preferably WiFi).
  • In case you have previous studies or analyses, have them at hand so that you can share them with your specialists.

2. Face-to-face Medical Consultation

Once you have completed your online medical assessment, and you agree with your personalised treatment plan, it's time to move on to the next stage: your face-to-face medical consultation.

You will choose the date, time and Ingenes branch of your choice and, according to the instructions of your team of specialists, we will probably carry out the following studies on that day:

  • Vaginal ultrasound.
  • Embryo transfer test.
  • Seminogram (if you come with your partner and he is a man, or with a known donor).

Subsequently, the reproductive biologist leading your case will define the first steps with which you will start your plan, explaining in detail each of the processes that will be carried out together, between you and your team.

In addition, if required, you will receive financial advice and we will design your payment plans so that you can get started with your treatment.

What do you need for your consultancy?

  • Preferably come between day 1 and 3 of your period.
  • If you are attending with a male partner, he must be sexually abstinent for 3 to 5 days in order to have a semen analysis.
  • In case you have them, bring medical studies and tests that you have had previously, such as: hormonal tests, Pap smears, blood chemistry, mastography, etc.
