Berenice has polycystic ovary disease and this caused her to have recurrent miscarriages over several years. She shares here her story, the hard road she went through with each loss, and how in her 3rd cycle of In Vitro Fertilization she had her little girl.
"In my first treatment I got positive, but I lost it after four weeks. I faltered, I thought I wouldn't do it again, it's too much to go through.
In 2018 I had a miscarriage and ended up in hospital, but I didn't know I was pregnant, even though I had been trying for three years with my husband. I have polycystic ovary and they said that even though I could get pregnant, it would be difficult for me to carry to term, they said I would have a leak.
After that I understood why we didn't make it, but I was so sad, fortunately my husband was with me. He told me that we would fight, that there must be something, a treatment we could take, that we should not give up.
I am 36 years old, but my husband is younger and he used to tell me that we still had time, but for me it was something else, I thought. I knew that the more time passed, the more difficult it could be .
When we went for a consultation and were both checked, we were told that to give us the best chance of success we would have to undergo treatment with several IVF cycles.
We had our first attempt and we did the ovulation maturation, I had to have some injections around my belly button, as well as take some medication, and also some eggs. It was positive, but after 4 weeks I lost it. I felt devastated, and I really couldn't tell you how, but I got up the strength, I had to do it.
The next month we went back and it came back negative. That's when I faltered again, I told my husband that maybe we wouldn't continue, but here they gave us a lot of encouragement to continue.
We made it on our third IVF cycle, although I didn't really celebrate that much. When I went for the ultrasound I felt like something was holding me back. Plus, all the previous losses made me not so sure, it would only be real when I finally had my baby.
During my pregnancy I had a lot of uncertainty, but it was very calm, I had little nausea and everything was going well, I was growing, but I couldn't get rid of the fear of losing him, I wanted to be cautious in case anything happened.
When it started, I had a twin pregnancy, but after a month I lost one of my embryos. I was very scared, but my husband was there to reassure me, he took great care of me, especially with the pandemic.

In the operating room there is a lamp that is placed above you and it looks like a mirror, I saw her there for the first time, when she cried, then they put her on my chest to cut the cord and I felt her warm, I felt her mine, that's when I knew she was real and we had made it.
