A study conducted by a team of fertility researchers from the University of Newcastle, Australia reveals that sperm quality is directly affected by cell-phone usage, up to 14% of the problems men face while trying to conceive are related to the radiation emitted by cell phones.
Researchers studied a group of young men aged 18 to 35 years who used cell phones frequently and found that the incidence of problems conceiving was higher among those who also had fertility problems. The team of researchers concluded that radiation emitted by cell phones can affect sperm quality in young men with no or only one child.
Keeping your cell phone in your pocket may be practical for many people, however, experts do not recommend it because the effect of cell phone radiation can have devastating effects on male fertility, according to scientific analysis.
A recent study provides insights into the matter, a team of researchers from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine in 2022, draws a correlation between the fact that mobile devices emit radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation (RF-EMR), which allows them to transmit data for social networking, web browsing, and audio streaming, and although cell phone radiation does not compare to X-rays or gamma rays, whose frequencies are higher, the risks should not be minimized either, as it has been shown to cause loss of sperm motility and viability, as well as induction of ROS generation and DNA damage.
In a globalized society where we find ourselves constantly surrounded by technology, it would seem impossible to avoid radiofrequency radiation and, therefore, the adverse effects they have on our health. But there’s some things you can do to help diminish their impact, as well as certain foods that can protect your body thanks to their antioxidant properties.
In addition, avoiding constan cell phone use and storing it somewhere other than your pocket, can help deter the adverse negative effects on fertility.
Finally, it should be taken into account that each person's lifestyle habits may increase or decrease the negative effects of radiation on their reproductive health. Therefore, it is important to consult a fertility specialist, to determine the exact reason why you may find yourself struggling to have a baby.
